When dyed in indigo, the waxed areas resist the dye, leaving them white. This meticulous process requires over 20 steps if done using traditional methods. At Roketsu Dyeing Studio Yamamoto you can experience the entire Roketsu dyeing process firsthand. The experience lasts 90-120 minutes and allows for up to 30 participants. Prices range from 2,900 yen to 7,000 yen. Roketsu dyeing is characterized by varying thickness in design repetitions, creating a three-dimensional effect in the final product. The technique involves deliberate shading to achieve depth. Additionally, the use of a brush soaked in wax allows for expressive brushstrokes, while the high-temperature-resistant brush adds texture to the design.
