A new sensation dessert, visually resembling a crepe but offering the taste of daifuku, crafted by a French chef, has made its debut!

Since last fall, THE LIVELY HAKATA FUKUOKA has been offering a popular hotel original sweets project themed “Émotion (Emotional × Mode).” This concept has been expanded to THE LIVELY OSAKA HONMACHI. While enjoying hotel original sweets, we propose a new hotel stay experience through the theme of “Émotion.”

In Osaka, a French chef with 20 years of experience in the field creates innovative and refined sweets that anticipate trends while maintaining a classic touch. The desserts, capturing the hearts of guests, not only have an appealing appearance worthy of a photo but also feature the chef’s dedication to incorporating authentic French essence for a sophisticated taste.

This winter, the chef’s original hybrid sweets, “à la daifuku?” – a fusion of the popular Japanese confection Fruit Daifuku and the French classic Crepes, are available in three variations. Each variant wraps fruits, red bean and custard cream in mochi, further rolled in crepe dough, and baked to perfection. The custard cream, subtly enhanced with rum, showcases the chef’s distinctive taste. Winter fruit options include strawberry, mandarin orange and persimmon. The combination of different heated ingredients creates a harmonious blend, and the crispy, aromatic crepe dough offers a delightful texture. Adorned with generously cut fruits and edible flowers, these visually stunning sweets resemble crepes but provide a new sensation akin to daifuku when consumed.

About the Chef

Kohei Nishiura

After training at restaurants in Kobe, Osaka, and France, Kohei Nishiura served as the head chef at several French restaurants in Osaka, including the Modern French restaurant La Chic in Yodoyabashi. In December 2019, he assumed the role of head chef at THE LIVELY KITCHEN OSAKA HONMACHI. For the appetizers in course meals, he presents dishes inspired by French delicatessen. Balancing classic and modern French cuisine, incorporating the vitality of seasonal Japanese ingredients nurtured by the four seasons, he strives to create dishes that resonate with the essence of the ingredients and bring a sense of joy. Leveraging his sense and knowledge cultivated through past experiences, he aims to convey the charm of “Casual French” unique to THE LIVELY KITCHEN OSAKA HONMACHI, where you can feel French cuisine more intimately.


Starting from December, the hotel’s top-floor bar will be available for café use

Starting from December 1st (Friday), the top-floor bar, “THE LIVELY BAR,” on the 14th floor of the hotel will be available for café use between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. In addition to the limited-time sweets, you can also enjoy Brazilian traditional sweets “Pudim,” tea from the German traditional tea house Ronnefeldt, tea cocktails, cream soda and more.
