5th Anniversary Celebration Event: “We are THE LIVELY” Edo Meets Azabujuban – Event Highlights

On November 2nd, THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN proudly celebrated our 5th anniversary. This year’s theme, “We are THE LIVELY: Edo Meets Azabujuban,” brought together tradition and modernity, creating a vibrant and unforgettable experience. We are truly grateful to all the guests who joined us and helped make this celebration truly unforgettable.

A Fusion of Edo and Azabujuban

The theme “We are THE LIVELY: Edo Meets Azabujuban” was designed to align with our brand’s purpose of creating a space where people, information, and opportunities converge—a concept we expressed through the theme “Meets.” Combined with our 5th-anniversary slogan, “We are THE LIVELY,” the event embodied the blending of tradition and modernity, inspired by “Edo,” the historical predecessor of modern Tokyo.

Edo represents not only Tokyo’s origins but also its rich cultural heritage as a vibrant hub of innovation, art, and community during Japan’s feudal era. This fusion of past and present created a meaningful backdrop for our milestone celebration.

Meets at LIVERALLY – Lounge Activities on the 2nd Floor

With the help of the local sushi restaurant Sushi Oshima Azabujuban, we served freshly made nigiri sushi crafted with seasonal ingredients. Guests were also treated to a thrilling buri (yellowtail) carving show, an experience rare even for Japanese locals. Both international and Japanese guests were captivated by the performance, making it a standout attraction of the night.

Nigiri sushi was developed during the Edo-period as a form of fast food, served as a quick and portable meal for the bustling city’s workers and residents. Chefs skillfully preserved fresh fish with techniques such as curing or marinating, and paired it with seasoned rice to enhance its flavor.

By featuring nigiri sushi in our 5th-anniversary event, we paid homage to the ingenuity and cultural legacy of Edo, while offering our guests a taste of the craftsmanship that continues to define Japanese cuisine today.

A special thanks to the team at Sushi Oshima for their incredible support and collaboration!

DJ Music Meets Projection Mapping

Our hotel’s front desk was transformed into a DJ booth, where renowned DJs NORII and DAISHI DANCE brought the space to life with their dynamic performances.

NORII’s expertise in house music and DAISHI DANCE’s iconic “Studio Ghibli Set” captivated the  audience, creating an unforgettable auditory experience.

For the first time, we introduced projection mapping at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN! The dazzling display synchronized with the music, transformed the entire entrance into an immersive environment.

This set the perfect mood for the dance floor, with guests enjoying the atmosphere and dancing throughout the night, blending the event’s modern energy with a touch of artistic innovation.

Ink Painting Meets Shamisen Rock

The event’s grand finale featured a live ink painting performance by Usui, accompanied by an electrifying shamisen (Japanese traditional string instrument) rock performance by Jinbo Kazuya.

The blend of powerful brushstrokes and high-energy shamisen music created a breathtaking synergy, leaving the audience in awe and bringing the evening to its ultimate crescendo.

Art Meets Cocktails at THE LIVELY BAR – 9th Floor

The rooftop bar took on an artistic twist with guest bartender Sora Nomura from the creative cocktail team “Quarter Room.”

Inspired by the Edo theme, Nomura crafted exclusive cocktails based on four Edo-era artworks, including Hokusai’s “Mt. Fuji from Goten-yama at Shinagawa on the Tokaido” and Sharaku’s iconic actor portraits.

Thanks to everyone’s support, we’ve successfully reached our 5th anniversary and were able to host this vibrant and memorable celebration. Over 100 guests participated in the festivities that night, with many coming specifically to enjoy the unique experiences we had on offer.

We hope this event created cherished memories for all who attended. Our team is incredibly proud to have brought this experience to life together and looks forward to continuing to serve as a hub of hospitality, creativity, and connection.

Here’s to many more years of making unforgettable moments together!
